PLEASE PLEASE KNOW I AM MERELY ASKING QUESTIONS...Mostly because I don't want to see the repugs LIE to us again...I am sure she is a wonderful mom....I just have questions about some of what we have been told..
So I went searching a bunch of NW Blogs and Some Alaska blogs trying to figure out more about this Allusive NEW VP Candidate. But the Nurse and Mom part of my brain definitely started asking Some Questions. Little Things, like WHY Didn't McCain make the Announcement in Alaska- HER home state. And then reading her story, some things did NOT make sense. Like that she was Pregnant and No One she worked with Knew she was pregnant ? And then that she Flew HOME from Texas, and she was OVER 7 Months Pregnant and her water Broke ? ( Kind of story MSM LOVES...but also not quite realistic). And the other part of the story that bothers me, is that most people with new babies, especially mother of 4 and a new special needs baby take off more than TWO days before returning to work......So I stumbled around some last night and there is a lot of Other People Questioning Big Chunks of her story....I am not the only one....I am not trying to gossip here, please know that ....But I also think if we are ALL being lied to about a Special Needs Baby and questionable situation....and Heaven Forbid it is being used to Manipulate People's Sympathies for an Election......
And yes, I look at this photo and it looks like Winter, and no Sarah does not look pregnant..and the Daughter...well...she could be...as a Nurse and a Mom ....I have to Wonder, the Timelines,and the story is Dubious....it is.

I agree. Pretty damn suspicious. But they are obviously scrambling to remove any evidence. Looks like her daughter had a baby.
The fact the baby was born with downs is what they can use to prove it's Sarah's since downs syndrome babies are more likely in pregnancies by women over 40... ugh

I just got another nauseating email from a woman in my online group praising McLame and suggesting we all go listen to Rush Limbaugh for an "open-minded" point of view. I feel like barfing.
I hadn't seen ANY of this, but you've got me wondering, too.
Remember Palin is being touted as BIG on home schooling. So now I wonder if any of her other children were brought home from school, or was it only the eldest daughter?
I noticed something else at her big debut speech. She barely even looked at little Trig, barely mentioned him. A new mother, even a 5-time mother, would hardly be able to keep herself away from him.
I also noticed the pained look on the daughter's face. She did not look happy. I thought I recognized that look as one who had to do most the childrearing for younger sibs myself. It seemed to me to be the look of one who is concerned about the baby, but also resentful of missing out on her teenage yrs. I'm sure I wore it often. But now you've got me wondering if she is emotionally damaged in some other way.
And here's something else: I thought the daughter (I know, I need to verify her name, Bristol?) sure has a lot of baby fat. Most girls her age are about as thin as they will ever be again. But now I'm thinking it could've been the look of someone who just gave birth & is probably nursing. Especially seeing the photo you posted from a few months ago. She has ballooned up for some reason.
But, Biden did not bring out his whole brood when Obama announced his VP pick. Palin didn't have to, either. Unless they were just trying to get the audience prepped for seeing her being non-maternal and the daughter being in charge of the baby.
BTW, did you notice Palin's hub did not have much interaction with Trig either? Strange for a father to ignore a new child, his only other son.
OK, I'll stop with a fun note: about births getting easier the more you have ... my grandma used to LOVE to tell me about birthing my dad, who was her 4th child. She said, I got a stomach ache, I stood up to walk to the bathroom, and your dad fell out on the floor! She said, if only they all could've been that easy!

Well as an Alaskan I can only add that NOBODY knew Sarah was pregnant.
Not her staff, or the reporters, nor did she appear to be pregnant in the slightest.
This is a very gossipy story, and not something that I feel very comfortable with. But this is not about a teenage pregnancy being covered up by a loving parent.
This is about a politician who ran her campaign on the platform of ethics reform. She promised to have a transparent, honest administration. This is neither.
Does Sarah Palin think that in 2008 voters would have thought less of her if her daughter became pregnant? As a parent of a 21 year old daughter I can tell you that she has made choices that I would not have agreed with. But I always supported her, loved her, and defended her if others dared disparage her. I never told her that she had disappointed me or that she had to pretend that she was somebody that she was not.
Of course I am not an evangelical. Those churches are where shame thrives and judgmental people feel free to act better then everybody else. In that environment is it any wonder that a public person might want to hide an embarrassing private situation?
But now Palin is in the national spotlight. Can she really hope to keep something like this private? And did the McCain campaign know? Or were they lied to as well?

We had lunch with Jim's summer preceptor. She's an RN with 15 years experience and naturally, I had to bring up Sarah Palin and her Downs Syndrome infant.
I asked, "Could you leave such an infant behind to run as VP?"
This woman said, "99% of women wouldn't do it. Palin's priorities are skewed."

well, it is possible to run - if she had like an amazing family and an adult or mother to help care for the infant....I do worry he is a special needs infant- usually Downs babies are poor suck, poor muscle tone, and some also have heart problems...they are fragile....Most people with infants don't travel much- esp infants that are fragile- so I am little confused as to how she will campaign, on the road....or how her family will be cared for...her husband works for BP...
So I am watching the FOX (sorry- but they have good Hurricane updates..) gee the Repug commentators are not happy...gee...age./experiencee etc.....

about Downs...you can be any age and have a Downs baby...it happens...sometimes people are not in the risk group...sometimes people find out at birth..older moms get tested....so they can be prepared...

I was so happy after watching the DNC and was a little bit scared and shocked after McCain announced his pick for VP. As a woman, I can't believe that women would just vote for McCain just because of Palin (but then again, GWB was elected TWICE - much to my horror and sadness).
If there is any way that Alaskans can get the truth of this story, and then get it into the national media, so many people would be very grateful.

I've worked for some big companies (Charles Schwab and Blue Cross) and a big non-profit (APLA) and a few smaller companies and I can tell you this.
When a woman is preggers, it's an event for folks to celebrate, have cake, order pizza and hang out. When she delivers, everyone is anxiously waiting to hear how mother and child are doing.
For McCain's Quayle to just slip the news in one morning and no one she worked with had a clue she was with child, suggests to me she was never preggers in the first place.

Palin is radically anti-choice, even in the case of rape and the woman's health. According to Palin, if you're preggers -- YOU WILL CARRY THE CHILD TO TERM AND DELIVER IT.

Could she and her husband adopted the infant from a young girl, not equipped to raise it? If so, why the secrecy? This is an admirable thing to do and really decent.
Could the child belong to a family member, like her sister who has a personal history of getting knocked around by really bad men?
This story stinks to high heaven.
There are many women who like to hide their pregnancies for whatever reason. Simply go to Google and make a couple of searches for things such as "hide your pregnancy", "hiding your pregnancy".
My point is, that there are many women who feel the need to hide their pregnancy because they don't want to show weakness or whatever. So you shouldn't automatically jump to conclusions without FACT.

For what it's worth, my mom was a pediatric nurse for 30 years (retired in 2000) and she calls Palin's story about her purported pregnancy and the birth of the Down's Syndrome baby far fetched.
At the very least, my mom notes, Palin risked sepsis by not immediately going to hospital once her water broke. The fact that the baby was premature and a Down's Syndrome case further, as you indicated, ratcheted up the need for immediate professional care, not a cross country airplane flight.
So even if Palin's story is correct, she was at minimum negligent in her care for the child and herself. Which only points further, I think, to the daughter, who had been out of school for five months, being the actual mother.
The fact, also, that Palin hid the pregnancy for three or four months further makes me suspicious since nothing sells in politics like motherhood.
So I think you're on the right track. Stay strong.

This little regional med center has NO NICU or emergency or special needs nursery. She said in the people magazine article that she knew that she was having a downs baby in Decemeber 2007 ( the Same time she was doing Vogue - funny she does not look pregnant in those photos- which NOW 24 hours later have also been removed from the Internet).....
If a woman's water breaks they are advised to seek immediate med attention esp if they are on Baby Number 5 as this baby will come quickly usually in less than 8 hours....also there is a risk of infection ..
Women over 7 monthes are usually not allowed to fly- have to seek permission from their doctor AND sign a waiver with the Airline-
Supposedly her water broke, AND she went and gave a speech and THEN she flew home- there is no way that she could have done all that with NO contractions??? and then she knew she was having a HIGH risk baby - so she takes the flight home- and even in Seattle or Texas she could have sought medical care- then she gets home and drives45 minutes to MAt Su med Center ...?????
and yet there are NO Birthes listed for that day from that hospital...not that I can find...
Either way- none of this shows normal safe careful motherly judegment- most women once their water breaks - hormones and adrenalin kick in to get to the medical center..and People around them do notice they are in labor.....NO ONE KNEW ???? Did she tell anyone at Alaska Airlines ???( any woman in labor would say something -right?)
If she really did not say ANYTHING to any one - WHY???because she put herself and the baby at HUGE risk...makes no sense....

As a nurse, please examine that pic of Bristol in the green sweater more closely. You can see the outline of a huge navel. My sister's a midwife clinician who specializes in teen births and she spotted it immediately.

When you're 7 months pregnant, you can say all you want, that's still 16 to 20 pounds of protrusion all around your person. And that lil tummy will be very noticeable because it's the first to protrude.

When she said publicly (many times) that they knew via amnio testing that her baby would be born with down syndrome "but they chose not to abort," she was making a dooming statement if it turns out it's not her kid.
And I really cannot see how it could be her kid.
Even the hospital- which lists daily births on their website--made no mention of her giving birth on April 8.
Anyone who thinks the American public can be this stupid must be a special kinda dumb.

If you haven't watch the video from February on DailyKos, when she should be 5 1/2 months pregnant, she talks about liking a run that "tears her guts out" as though that is a good thing for a woman expecting her fifth child.
All the facts we have put together makes her look like a liar, but I think she's more appealing as a lying grandmom than as a completely callous mother on her son's delivery day.
Either way, it's something the GOP has to answer. We need to keep up the pressure for the truth.

Can tell you that although I wasn't the bloated pregnant woman type -- always managed to add only 20 pounds to my initital weight until D Day, I never was able to keep my waste from expanding particularly in 5th month, no matter how hard I tried to keep my weight down, let alone in 7th month, just NO WAY! NO WAY!
And to think that she has a history of not exactly being the slender type during her 1st pregnancy (as pic shows.)
Either her friends and staff were dumb or they're lying for her.

Around February in Alaska EVERYBODY looks pregnant. Even the men.
It is what they look like when they take their parkas, puffy jackets, and snowmachine suits of they is important. And that is how her staff saw her everyday, and did not have a clue she was pregnant. Now if you suspected your co-worker were pregnant but perhaps were too unsure to ask, wouldn't you response when asked later be "I thought she might be pregnant"?

I have been wondering why Palin did such a poor job of pretending she was pregnant. I mean apparently she did not even stuff pillows under her clothes to fool her staff. And then it dawned on me.
What if she didn't know?
What if Bristol was able to hide her little secret for a number of months?
Wouldn't that explain why Sarah kept showing up in stylish clothing that is clearly NOT maternity wear?
And if we take this line of thought even further, maybe they were not exactly sure when little Trig was going to make his appearance. Maybe Sarah thought she had plenty of time to get from Texas to Alaska without incident.
If you think about it that makes much more sense then a pregnant mother of four, in her eighth month flying twelve plus hours home to have a baby, after her aminotic fluid started leaking.
And Enigma isn't that doctor in danger of being sued for malpractice if she did not insist that Palin get checked out by an OBGYN BEFORE boarding the plane? Shouldn't the Alaskan medical board already be investigating her?

(1) Have not been able to locate ANY video or transcripts of the Important Speech she gave on April 18th , 2008, I went to the NGA Site [National Governor's Association), there are no meetings listed for that day- no Minutes or ANYTHING for that day. I checked the Speaker Bureau listings as well.
WE need footage, transcript or photos from that important speech. Supposedly Governor Perry attended yet- there is nothing on his website either.
(2)I am still having trouble trying to ascertain that her DrCathy Baldwin Johnson has Priveleges in the Deilvering hospital.
Those are the two areas I am examing at this time- anyone want to help - let me know...

Actually, I was an investigative reporter when I started my career as a journalist and this is exactly how stories are developed.
You chase down all leads, seek confirmation, throw out the unprovable junk and proceed from there.
But most of all, you give the suspicious party an opportunity to confirm or deny the story.
Unfortunately, the GOP and the Bush administration (especially Cheney) established an environment of zero accountability to the media or the people, so it would be difficult to approach Palin to request proof that the kid was hers.
Standing alone, some of the circumstantial evidence is weak. But when it's presented in its entirety, several legitimate questions emerge.
If Palin turns out to be a liar, The People need to know before the election so we can make an informed decision in the voting booth.
Keep up the good work, enigma. You're correct in saying that this has nothing to do with Obama, and those who insinuate that it does are simply incorrect.

Now, Bristol is preggers with baby no. 2 and McCandy says she's happy as a clam.
This is like watching an episode of As the World Turns.
What if she's not pregnant and will have a convenient miscarriage? That's always a possibility. In any scenario, that Bristol has been brutally used by her own family for political gain.

Bristol is Carrying alot of weight- is she pregnant? I don't know- she is bigger than 5 monthes pregnant- she does also look like she could be carrying baby weight. Now people have asked could she also be pregnant if she did give birth in April- yes she could- but she would not be 5 monthes- it would be less...
there are again too many of these pieces that are not making sense....
and the Photo from the Campaign trail on Friday- clearly show a young girl either pregnant or like a young girl that had a baby and is still carrying the baby weight...
And no offense- the photo of Palin does not look like a woman that just had a baby in April....

Oh I'm sure McLame is just projecting anger at his own stupid self. After all, he didn't vet her, now this story breaks, no way she can look like the good mother they made her out to be. Either she accepted the VP offer knowing that she lied about Trig's true parentage OR she accepted the VP offer knowing that her under-aged daughter was pregnant AND knowing that she'd be scrutinized (and of course in some cases, reviled). That's just cruel and about as bad a mother as one could be.
She threw Bristol under the bus -- and her own political party with her -- for her own advancement. And what a stupid choice that was. Maybe she wants her 15 mins. of fame at her family's expense.

My look at that after-pregnancy weight gain on the daughter. And Palin, nice and trim after just having had a baby and had three days off before going back to work. Why even Heidi Klum wasn't as trim after her baby.

Very very baffling...
Can't tell if that's Bristol holding the baby -- but if it's her, then she seems a bit on the heavy side; many mothers don't lose their pregnancy/post natal fat right away.
Between the purported mom, i.e., Sarah, and the suspected mom, i.e., Bristol, easy to suspect that Bristol is the mother based on these pictures -- given the obvious: Sarah shown very slim 3 months after birth and Sarah, still on the heavy side after the birth of the baby...
Of course one may say that Bristol's pregnant but just as easy, as Helen said, to say in a couple of weeks that she had a miscarriage -- nobody will be the wiser.
And if no one is forcing them to provide the hospital records of Trig's birth, we certainly won't be seeing those either, should a fake "miscarriage" occur.

Here is what could be going on now with this new announcement from Palin:
With just two months to go before the election, this five months pregnant story will be enough of a story to fend off the press for now. This is a buying time strategy.
This doesn't take anything away from the fact that bloggers forced Palin to at least make this announcement, make of it what you will.
However, if McCain, is, God forbid, elected, Bristol will "miscarry" and then, somewhere down the line," Palin will announce that she lied about her own pregnancy (the one involving Trig) to "protect her family" through the White House press secretary, who will be doing the verbal song and dance in front of a compliant White House press corps, while Palin, who will likely be a non factor in the McCain administration anyway, goes on holiday.
This all just gets curiouser and curiouser.
I don't think Bristol will 'miscarry,' I think she's actually pregnant again and will deliver baby #2 around January.
I have mentioned this elsewhere, but my mother was born in January and her sister was born in November of the same year. Irish twins.

I was pregnant when 15 and went to a home for unwed mothers in Texas named Edna Gladney Home...it is known for its confidentiality rules and they go to the extent of legally changing the mother's name while there and everything, which is why I went there as a teen as well, and used a very similar story of being "ill" as apparently Bristol told her peers at school as for her "prolonged" absence during the same timeframe her mother was "supposedly" pregnant. This all sounds too familiar, and the fact that Sarah Palin was in "Texas" at all during that time, I can guarantee you is because Bristol was at that home giving birth, and if anyone at the Edna Gladney Home speaks (we affectionately called it the "Egg Home") they are liable for suit - so I am sure Mrs. Palin knew this when considering Bristol going there. I remember Edna Gladney used to boast how their confidentiality was so great that politicians, beauty queens, and even a very famous football coache's daughter had gone there to have their babies -- so you can bet a huge coverup is indeed what is going on here, and THAT is why they were in Texas AT ALL during that time - not to give some SPEECH. I am betting that their initial intention was to consider adoption for Bristol, but if the child was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, they may have possibly changed their mind to keep the baby (as was common if any other babies had disabilities as their likliehood for adoption was very low) or they at least went there for the confidentiality of giving birth at least for their strict guidelines as to confidentiality for people Bristol's age... and it would allow for Bristol to be cared for while the rest of the Palins stayed in Alaska to continue with duties. What a tragedy this is that they truly chose to cover it up by saying SARAH HAD HER OWN DAUGHTER'S BABY!!! HOW CRAZY SILLY SICK - I WOULD HAVE MUCH MORE ADMIRED HER FOR SAYING HER DAUGHTER HAD A BABY AND OWNED IT. And I can bet you that Bristol is probably not pregnant right now - she prob still has the baby weight and will later mysteriously announce she miscarried or something. This is all a tragic hoax and coverup. How crazy stupid surreal. I cannot believe how this is truly turning out.

I thank you for sharing your story- that is very very powerful...It is the saddest thing ever what is happening to Bristol- she is who I really feel sorry for ....there are girls that get pregnant- which you shared with us...and I have had friends and friends daughters....it happens...but a real family should embrace and be proud of their children and be truthful- that would be more loving..and yes, watching Bristol this past week- and seeing photos of her with the baby- and the way the baby snuggles and clings to her- I was so moved that she is sad- she can not even say this is hers...and I worry about her...
